Education is a nation's most important resource. Mobile learning represents a transformative shift in education to make learning more accessible, engaging and personalised. A survey that we conducted indicates that 100% of respondents (N=256) owned a smartphone. Three-quarters (75%) of respondents owned a tablet. Tablets and wearables are key growth areas. The three top learning apps that students reported were Moodle 31.64% (n=81), MS Teams 41.02% (n=105) and Zoom 27.34% (n=70). Laptops/desktops remain the most utilised devices to support learning. Students adapt increasingly to their mobile devices, and over 60% of students (n=156) agreed that mobile technologies increased communication with other students and with educators. But 48% of respondents (n=122) indicated that they would not want educators to ask them to use mobile apps or devices more often in coursework, because they did not enjoy learning in that way. The more we heard about the situation, the more effective we knew it could become. Students use their phones for more than just talking.
