Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
By completing the course, students will become familiar with the basic concepts of enterprise and entrepreneurship and the typology of enterprises, and then acquire knowledge about the property and capital construction of the enterprise, costs, revenues, and economic results, the cost function including production theory, the importance of calculations and basic calculation methods, methods of creating sales prices, production, supply and personnel activities of the company, financing of corporate activities, investment activities of the company and the basics of financial analysis and management. Lectures are immediately followed by seminars where students learn and practice basic concepts and connections. After completing the course, students will be able to reliably apply their professional knowledge and understanding within a specialized field of work in solving problems with a professional approach using modern methods that they will learn to implement as part of studying the course. Course objectives: - introduce students to the basics of business management; - get an overview of individual basic business activities; - increase competencies in setting up the financial side of the business; - acquire skills in the subsequent process of transforming business inputs into desirable outputs of the enterprise as a whole.
Syllabus
  • Lecture topics from the subject: Enterprise, business, entrepreneurial activity. Goals and functions of the company, analysis of business phenomena. Property and capital structure of the company. Funding rules. Optimization of the capital structure. Costs, revenues, and economic result. Production activity of the company. Supply activity of the enterprise. Personnel activities of the company. Investment activity of the company. Purchase and sale activities of the company. Innovative activity of the enterprise. The seminars will deal with case studies and assignments from the practice of business entities. Seminar topics: Introduction to business economics, assignment of a case study. Financial statements. Funding rules. Average cost of capital. Founding budget. Inventory and continuous test. Cost functions. Personnel activities of the company. Production activity of the enterprise. Investment activity of the company. Final test. Presentation / defense of a case study related to the acquisition of corporate data in relation to certain current economic topics.
