The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives

The course focuses on deepening knowledge and skills in the field of management and business economics. The essential idea of the course is to introduce students to the basic knowledge of crisis management related to the functions and elements of management (planning, organizing, stimulating and controlling). The course introduces students to methods that can help to recover a company's finances, improve the functionality of business processes and make the overall operation of the company more efficient.

Course Objectives:

- to learn and master other methods of identifying and evaluating information about a business and its environment;

- to acquire knowledge and skills enabling to react appropriately to crisis situations, minimizing losses and finding new opportunities from emerging crises;

- to become familiar with the typical causes and types of crisis situations; improve the overall ability to deal with such situations rationally, including the ability to communicate effectively in a crisis.
Syllabus

Main topics of the course (topics of individual lectures):

1. Identification and treatment of enterprise risks (crisis, origin, course, impact, crisis management, crisis from the perspective of the enterprise).

2. Setting up an early warning system (EWS, effectiveness of the system, examples).

3. Process flow of crises (potential crisis, causes, latent crisis, acute crisis, chronic crisis).

4. Reversal strategies (obtaining funding, stabilizing CF, changing strategy, V concept, role of communication). 

5. Crisis cash-flow optimization (CF planning, diversification of activities, types of diversification).

6. Crisis communication I (principles, basic decisions, basic principles).

7. Crisis communication II (models, communication tools, communication errors, internal communication).

8. Strategic partnerships (typology, strategic alliances and partnerships). 

9. Crises in business growth (business life cycle, developmental crises).

10. Insolvency and liquidation of a company (causes, process, options).

11. Resuscitation, restructuring and revitalisation of the enterprise (revival, change of structure, other rescue options).

12. Psychological aspects of crisis management (reactions in crisis situations, crisis lines, cognition).

Lectures by external managers are also part of the course to motivate students to take a deeper interest in the subject.

Zkouška: (prez. i dist.) obhajoba zpracované seminární práce odpovídající stanoveným požadavkům + ústní zkouška (v případě distanční formy realizovaná za využití prostředků dálkové elektronické komunikace)
