Course objectives
The course International Trade is focused on processes related to the preparation, negotiation and implementation of international business transactions. The topic is divided into 10 blocks, which follow each other logically as it is necessary to ensure the individual phases of business operations.
Syllabus
1.International trade - macro perspective (based on theoretical assumptions of international trade, historical development, characterization of trade policy instruments and internationally applied rules and practices). 2. International trade (focuses on assessing the reasons why a firm enters foreign markets, information sources, international institutions, tariff and non-tariff barriers, external economic relations of the state and foreign trade policies). 3. International trade - micro view (business methods and their use, possible forms of entry into foreign markets). 4. Foreign market research (the most important foreign market surveys that must be carried out before entering foreign markets, both for exports and imports, their characteristics and the ways in which surveys can be carried out). 5. Purchase contract (purchase contract as a key issue in conducting foreign trade, forms of contract negotiation, bidding and inquiry procedure, essential parts of the contract, ICC model purchase contract and its use). 6. Price in international trade (the meaning of price, price negotiation including clauses used, price survey and sample clauses used, sample price calculation for export and import). 7. Agency relationship (assessment and recommendation of forms of export processing using agency relationship, status of agents, commission agents and distributors). 8. Contracts related to the sales contract I (contracts for the control of goods and works contracts directly related to the sales contract, advantages and disadvantages to be encountered in practice when negotiating these contracts, models and rules for their use). 9. Contracts related to the sales contract II (contracts of carriage and insurance, advantages and disadvantages, models and rules for their use). 10. Defects and claims (defects and claims, how to deal with them, recommended and possible procedures for claims). 11. Disputes in international trade (disputes arising in the course of international trade, how to prevent them and, if they arise, how to resolve them - methods for the out-of-court settlement of disputes, recommended forms of arbitration and internationally used rules for them and possible forms of dispute resolution before the ordinary courts). 12.
