Syllabus for C1 – PFS and KFS:

COURSE OBJECTIVES AND LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The aim of AJ3 is to further develop students’ language competences in Business and Professional English, particularly specialist vocabulary, comprehension of professional written and spoken texts, argumentation, presentation, discussion, and effective communication in the workplace.
Students work with topics related to business negotiation, the relationship between companies and society, sales, marketing, the creation and development of new businesses, and risk management. At B2 and C1 levels, the course is further expanded to include selected Cognitive Leadership topics focused on the development of students’ ability to manage attention, work with cognitive diversity, make decisions in groups, support psychological safety, and frame problems effectively.
The learning outcome of the course is the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the relevant language level in professional and business situations, use specialist vocabulary in context, and work effectively with information, arguments, and different perspectives in both individual and team-based activities.
CONTRIBUTION TO THE GRADUATE PROFILE:
Graduates of the course are introduced to key concepts of Business English and to the language used in contemporary professional and business environments. Through discussion, comparison, argumentation, presentations, teamwork, and practical problem-solving activities, students develop not only language and communication competences but also skills associated with Cognitive Leadership, particularly effective attention management, working with different perspectives, decision-making, problem framing, and team collaboration. The course therefore contributes to preparing graduates to function effectively in dynamic, international, and professionally demanding environments.- Learning outcomes

- Teaching methods
TEACHING METHODS:
Teaching is primarily student-centred, with an emphasis on active student participation and a minimal proportion of traditional frontal instruction. Methods include guided discussions, pair and group work, case studies, role-play, simulations, presentations, problem-solving activities, argumentation, comparison, and practical communication tasks.
At B2 and C1 levels, the course also includes interactive Cognitive Leadership activities, such as decision-making tasks, working with different perspectives, reflection, team-based problem solving, and short experimental or scenario-based activities. The lecturer acts primarily as a facilitator, creating a psychologically safe environment for communication, collaboration, and independent thinking.- Assessment methods
ASSESSMENT METHODS:
For PFS students, a minimum of 75% attendance and active participation in seminars is required in order to be admitted to the final examination. This attendance and participation requirement does not apply to KFS students.
For both PFS and KFS students, the final grade is based on the end-of-semester examination, which assesses the achievement of the specified language and professional learning outcomes. The examination focuses primarily on specialist vocabulary, the use of language in professional and business contexts, and the ability to apply acquired knowledge in practical communication situations.
The final result is graded A–F in accordance with university regulations.- Language of instruction
