- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- Course Objectives: The primary goal is for students to become thoroughly familiar with how mathematics works. The topics take into account the requirements of subsequent courses, but the course is primarily informative in nature. The material is consistently linked to real-world applications, with an emphasis on economic applications. The course provides students with a modern approach to mathematical methods for practical use. Principles for Developing Course Content: The course covers classic topics from an introductory college mathematics course. Emphasis is placed on logical progression and the demonstration of mathematical thinking. In terms of practical applicability, the focus is on differential calculus and statistics: the course should provide a solid understanding of the potential of these disciplines and their wide-ranging practical applications. The use of appropriate software is preferred for calculations.
- Syllabus
- A. Introduction to Differential Calculus 1. Mappings, basic concepts (domain, range, simple, direct, composite, and inverse mappings). Functions of a single real variable. Basic properties of functions and operations on functions, inverse functions, overview of elementary functions. 2. Limits and continuity of functions, evaluating limits of functions, properties of continuous functions. 3. Derivatives, their geometric meaning, the tangent line equation, evaluating derivatives, derivatives of composite functions. 4. The relationship between the derivative of a function and its graph (monotonicity, local extrema, convexity and concavity, inflection points). B. Introduction to Integral Calculus 5. Primitive functions and indefinite integrals; methods of integration (integration by parts, substitution). 6. The Riemann (definite) integral and its calculation; geometric applications of the definite integral.
