Course objectives

The course builds directly and comprehensively on the preceding course, Law for Managers. It provides students with a basic orientation in commercial law and its fundamental concepts. Considerable attention is devoted to business corporations, as well as to legal provisions addressing unfair competition and the legal aspects of advertising. The course also covers competition law, securities law, and the law of bills of exchange; a brief introduction is also provided to public procurement law.

An integral component of the course consists of seminars focused on individual topics from the perspective of the practical needs of an ordinary business operator. These seminars involve, for example, the drafting of contractual documents and the resolution of practical case studies.

Learning outcomes
A successful graduate will acquire knowledge of commercial law and its legal institutions. They will be able to correctly analyse commercial-law issues and propose appropriate solutions, assess emerging commercial-law problems, and draft standard types of commercial contracts. They will also be familiar with the institutional framework of commercial law and will be able to engage in informed professional discussion of substantive legal issues of a commercial-law nature.
