- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The course provides students with a basic orientation in fundamental legal concepts, particularly in the following areas and legal issues, which are addressed at a theoretical level in lectures and at a practical level in seminars on individual legal topics and issues. Specific legal concepts and issues include the legal system, the concept and definition of law, normative legal acts, legal norms, the validity and effectiveness of legal regulations, legal acts of subjects and objects of law, time in law, including deadlines, calculation of time, limitation periods, preclusion, etc.
Other problematic areas include basic knowledge and skills in contract law, as well as individual basic types of contracts. Specifically, this concerns the issues and knowledge of concluding, changing, and canceling obligations and securing them. Along with this, students will gain basic knowledge of procedural law, in particular civil court and alternative dispute resolution. Students will learn about individual legal professions, such as lawyers, notaries, judges, and bailiffs. Finally, basic aspects of European law, administrative law, and criminal law are also addressed. - Learning outcomes
- Successful graduates of this course will have the basic legal knowledge necessary for studying other legal subjects, particularly commercial law, as well as knowledge for business practice. They will be able to formulate basic types of obligations and deal with legal professions, court proceedings, etc. Graduates of this course are able to analyze legal issues and engage in professional legal discussions on substantive legal issues.
