- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
The course is designed as an essential theoretical foundation for the courses Fundamentals of Business Economics, Fundamentals of Management Accounting, Fundamentals of Financial Management, and Fundamentals of Controlling, as well as a practical foundation for the courses Controlling Applications I and II.
The basic theoretical knowledge acquired in lectures is applied by students in seminars through the solution of basic economic tasks using Excel.- Syllabus
Lectures:- Analyses, indicators, indices and operations with them
- Financial reporting as a source of data for economic analyses
- Sources of secondary data and statistics: Czech Statistical Office, ministries of the Government of the Czech Republic, Eurostat, OECD
- Analysis of financial statements – balance sheet
- Analysis of financial statements – income statement and cash flow statement
- Horizontal analysis – trend analysis
- Vertical analysis – percentage analysis technique
- Basic cost-volume-profit analyses
- Production analysis, production capacity
- Evaluation of a product and production programme
- Analyses – labour, wages and labour productivity
- Analysis of material consumption and inventory analysis
- Teaching methods
- The method of instruction is described in the Study and Examination Regulations of Sting University.

Method of course completion – examination
The examination consists of a written and an oral part.
Full-time form of study:
Method of course completion – credit and examination. Requirements for obtaining the credit: preparation of a seminar paper according to the teacher’s requirements and 80% active participation in seminars. Examination requirements: a written test with a minimum success rate of 50%, followed by an oral examination covering the knowledge acquired in lectures and seminars.
Combined form of study:
The examination consists of both a written and an oral part. The examination covers the content of all individual lectures within the course.- Language of instruction
