- Course objectives
- This course serves as an introduction to research methodologies in social sciences and economics, offering a comprehensive exploration of foundational principles and the critical assessment of reliable resources. Students will master the construction of literature reviews and research puzzles, developing a deep understanding of the scientific method's logic. The course provides a thorough review of both quantitative and qualitative research methods, culminating in the development and presentation of a well-structured research proposal.
Course Objectives:
Gain a comprehensive understanding of fundamental research methodologies in social sciences and economics;
Explore the importance of working with reliable resources and develop skills to critically assess, fact-check and select peer-reviewed literature for academic research;
Master the literature review: identify gaps and existing knowledge in a given research area;
Develop a solid understanding of the logic underlying the scientific method, emphasising its application in social sciences and economics;
Cultivate critical thinking skills to identify research questions, develop hypotheses, and plan adequate research methods;
Explore quantitative and qualitative research methods, understanding their strengths, limitations, and applications, and the potential of mixed-method research;
Develop research proposal presentation skills by applying the gained knowledge, demonstrating effective synthesis during the presentation of research ideas. - Syllabus

- As part of the subject, individual principles of working with bibliographic sources are thoroughly discussed, along with principles of citation ethics, as well as principles and guidelines for the stylistic, grammatical, and graphic processing of professional texts.

- Credit (pres., dist.): preparation and submission of a written presentation (in electronic form) of the student's thesis research plan, including, among other things, a proposal for research questions and/or hypotheses and methods that the student intends to use in the preparation of the thesis; subsequent feedback from teachers (also in electronic form).
