Course objectives

Welcome to "Adaptive Management in a Changing World," a course designed to explore the complexities of cross-cultural management within the realm of economics and sustainable business practices. In an increasingly globalized world, understanding and navigating cultural diversity are crucial skills for organizational success. Throughout this course, students will explore foundational theories, practical strategies, and real-world case studies to cultivate cultural competence and leadership skills. Join us as we probe the intersection of economics, sustainability, and cross-cultural management in today's dynamic business landscape.

Course Objectives:

  • introduce basic and advanced principles of adaptive management in the context of a rapidly changing global environment;

  • to draw attention to the importance of cultural competence and the creation of the necessary conditions for effective communication between cultures, as well as strategies for balancing cultural differences;

  • discuss the importance of adequately addressing diversity and inclusion issues in the work environment;

  • acquire the knowledge and skills needed to navigate diverse cultural environments and to lead effectively in dynamic organizational settings.

Assessment methods (in Czech)

Zápočet: individuální nebo v malé skupině studentů zpracovaný, v elektronické podobě odevzdaný semestrální projekt na zadané či po dohodě s vyučujícím zvolené téma

Zkouška: obhajoba vypracovaného semestrálního projektu, následně pak ústní zkouška. Studenti distanční formy studia skládají zkoušku prostřednictvím vhodných systémů dálkové elektronické komunikace.
