Course objectives
The Human Resources Management I. course introduces the students to individual processes/systems of human resources management (HRM) and presents the "hard" and "soft" aspects of HRM in the various stages of the employee's work in the organization.  
Syllabus
  • Course main topics:
  • 1) Introduction to HRM, historical development, HRM theory, human resources management strategic concept
  • 2) Legal aspects of HRM in the environment of the Czech Republic, Labor Code
  • 3) Personnel strategy, job analysis, and personnel planning
  • 4) Headhunting services and recruitment
  • 5) Selection of employees
  • 6) Recruitment, adaptation process
  • 7) Work performance organization and management, employees´ evaluation
  • 8) Remuneration, motivation, and employees care
  • 9) Staff training and development; career succession and management, women's careers and gender stereotypes
  • 10) Economic entity restructuring, employees´ dismissal
  • 11) Organizational (corporate) culture
  • 12) Modern trends in human resource management, HRM as a source of business competitiveness
  • The course includes external experts' lectures ranking from HR specialists and managers. The seminars will deal with the case studies, assignments from the business, and non-business entities' practices and solutions.
Assessment methods
Ungraded credit: (on campus) min. attendance at seminars, obtaining a specified minimum number of points for activity at seminars and preparation of continuous assignments; (online) submission of a credit seminar paper meeting the specified requirements Examination: (on campus) written final test; (online) defence of the seminar paper, written final test; oral examination (conducted in-person or online) in remedial periods
