- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
The course is focused on acquiring basic knowledge in the field of communication skills, which are essential for effective communication not only with customers but also within the company. The aim of the course is to familiarise students with the basic principles of communication and presentation.
Strong emphasis is placed on interactivity and the practical involvement of students, including the practice of specific techniques based on case studies. After completing the course, students will be able to present their own opinions and proposals in a coherent manner and to support them with arguments in subsequent discussion.- Syllabus
- History and development of communication, prerequisites and objectives of communication, communication barriers and principles of communication.
- Definition of interpersonal communication, functions of communication, styles of interpersonal communication.
- Non-verbal communication.
- Listening as part of communication. Characteristics of healthy communication.
- Public speaking. Speeches on social occasions. Written communication and its principles.
- Argumentation and negotiation. Assertiveness, definition of assertiveness, types of self-assertion, manipulation, assertive rights, basic assertiveness techniques.
- Conflicts, conflict resolution strategies, individual stages of conflict, types of conflict, distinction between levels of conflict: dispute vs. problem, Thomas-Kilmann conflict resolution typology, principles of conflict resolution.
- Personality typology in relation to managerial practice, basic components of personality: character, abilities, motivation, temperament, temperament typology: Eysenck, MBTI typology: Myers-Briggs.
- Leadership styles, characteristics of a leader and a manager, typology of leadership styles and sales behaviour: Gretz and Drozdeck, typology of interpersonal behaviour: Leary. Moderation and facilitation of group meetings.
- Teamwork, principles of teamwork, cooperation, stages of team development, team dynamics, selection of team members, team roles: Belbin.
- Speaker and listener.
- Presentation and communication skills.
- Assessment methods
Full-time form of study:
Method of course completion – graded credit. The graded credit is awarded for completing a specific assignment, such as delivering a presentation, presenting arguments and defending an opinion, resolving a conflict situation, etc., in the prescribed scope and quality.
Combined form of study:
The test required to obtain the graded credit is written. The test covers the content of all individual lectures within the course.- Language of instruction
