This chapter deals with issue of green skills and importance of their development in the context of the shift toward green economy. The importance of the skills development is not only related to the need of solving global climate crisis or to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) but also with the education and training of the workforce on the labor market, for the future occupations that will require set of a new skills and competencies. The aim of this chapter is to analyze the current state of art generally and in the Slovak Republic (SR) and subsequently propose the recommendation for the development of green skills, also in connection with other types of skills and point out the necessity of relevant changes, both at the level of policies and the educational system. Importance of the green skills development is closely connected with digital skills, to which is not given the attention in presented chapter due to the scope of the chapter’s focus and its extensive issue.
