Course objectives
To update the theoretical and practical fundamental managerial skills of the student and to develop the desired strategic thinking and negotiation with the use in professional and private life.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
• Modify the general methodological procedure for forming a management system for a particular organization;
• Identify the characteristics of the developmental stages of strategic activities in top management practice;
• Apply managerial principles and methods within the development stages of strategic activities;
• Acquire desirable principles of strategic thinking;
•To perceive the consequences of global developmental trends (megatrends) for implementing strategic management in particular organizations;
• Propose organizational provision of strategic implementation phases in specific organizations;Propose organizational provision of strategic implementation phases in particular organizations;
• Address generally identified weaknesses of strategic activities in Czech managerial practice;
• To master the principles of desirable strategic thinking;
• Analyze the nature of the organization's top-level strategic thinking and behavior and propose reasoned recommendations for improving strategic activities;
• To justify and suggest a process of transformation from strategic thinking and acting in the spirit of "Two Alternatives" to thinking and acting in the spirit of "Third Alternatives".

  • Overview of planned lectures: 1. Reminder of key topics from prerequisites 2. Unprecedented state of the company and tasks ahead of strategic management 3. Genesis and development of strategic activities 4. Basics of strategic management theory 5. A classic model of strategic management 6. Basis for strategic orientation of management (principles of strategic thinking, influence of global megatrends on organizational strategic management) 7. Overview of other approaches to strategic management 8. Desirable Change in Strategic Management Paradigm shift to "Third Alternatives" ¨ Overview of planned exercises: Exercise # 1 - Crossword SWOT Exercise No. 2- From Mission to Strategic Directions

2 written tests in 2nd and 3rd Consultation; Teamwork; Evaluation of seminar work. Exam: Written test (15 questions and 5 assignments); Presentation of the benefits of seminar papers; oral exam.
